Under the coordination of Dr. Eda FENDOĞLU from the Department of International Business Management, a technical visit was organized on May 15, 2025. Faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdinç KOÇ, Dr. Serkan METİN, and Dr. Seda İŞGÜZAR from the Department of Management Information Systems participated, along with third-year students from both departments.

During the visit, our students had the opportunity to observe key areas of airport operations, including human resources, accounting, procurement, technical units (mechanical and electrical), security, and emergency procedures. They also gained detailed insights into information technologies in the aviation sector, cybersecurity applications, and logistics processes. Over the course of this four-hour visit, Airport Manager Mr. Serdar AKYÜZ explained the airport’s operations, including air traffic control, apron management, customs and passport procedures, ARFF (airport fire services), and navigation technologies, answering students’ questions thoroughly.

At the second stop, the 7th Main Jet Base, students met with Base Commander Hv.Plt.Tuğg. Hüseyin Sabri AKYOL and learned about the strategic aspects and operational processes of military aviation. Commander AKYOL also shared career advice and insights into the military perspective of the sector.

During the final stage of the visit, students went to the Malatya Airport Air Traffic Control Tower, where experts explained air traffic management optimization, dynamics, and career opportunities in this field. The visit concluded with students exploring Airport Manager Serdar AKYÜZ’s private aircraft collection, offering an engaging and motivating experience.
